With Godzilla coming out on May 16th It hasn't taken long for companies to start using him in their commercials.
Both Fiat and Snickers have utilized the big guy to sell cars and candy.
Check it out after the jump!
This is nothing new to the Godzilla franchise in 1985 Dr. Pepper used him and in 1998 Taco Bell did also.
Funny that the diet drink is aimed at women!
Unfortunately for Godzilla 1998 this was the best part...the commercial with the dog. After I watched the midnight showing of that one I went to Taco Bell. In 1985 I went with my dad, but we didn't drink Dr.Pepper!
What did you think of the commercials?
Do you have a favorite?
Goddzie should come over here, some of Fiat's cars are made here in my country :) And we have tones of radiation too from the bombs that US dropped on us in '99... she would've loved it here!
ReplyDeleteHA! Give it time.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder Godzilla is looking a little pudgy these days!
ReplyDeleteThat is why the Japanese are calling him a fat American!
ReplyDeleteEating all those cars and Snickers!
He needs to do more water skiing...
ReplyDeleteI go with the taco bell ad. I recently rewatched the 98 Godzilla, it really is terrible on a whole other level.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to show it to my son. He has seen just about all of the older ones.
ReplyDeleteSon: "But dad it is called 'Godzilla'!"
ME: "No son in name only...it is Apocrypha Godzilla!"
I would love to have a day at the lake with Godzilla!
ReplyDeleteI only remember the Taco Bell ads. I've never seen a Godzilla movie. Please don't hurt me...

I loved that commercial.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this Godzilla will be your first.
I'm so scared to watch this film, but I probably still will go haha
ReplyDeleteI was thinking yesterday of Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes) pretending he was a T. Rex at the dinner table and being asked to eat more politely. The image of a T. Rex eating politely is hilarious. Godzilla should do that. Domesticated Giant Lizard, coming through!
ReplyDeleteFiat at least used the new design.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it will be scary, and awesome!
ReplyDeleteHA! They could have him eating a Snickers with a fork and knife.
ReplyDeleteHey David,
ReplyDeleteI'm having a monster of a time trying to keep up with commenting. So much so that it's almost three on a Sunday morning. Forgive me.
My favourite video is the one with the Chihuahua. I was told to say that by Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! Of course, nothing is better than the classic,"Bambi meets Godzilla."
A good Sunday to you.
Penny's fictional human,
Gary :)
Of course Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar would pick a chihuahua over the others!
ReplyDeleteLove Bambi meets Godzilla!
all i have to say is... i want the vintage godzilla... not to be picky. i do believe this will be a successful film, knock a few off the lead box office... well until x-men... :)
ReplyDeleteThe comic book store I frequent has several of the vintage Godzillas. I got one for my son last year for christmas, knowing I would have to buy the redesign after he sees the film!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the Taco Bell commercial with Godzilla at all. Not even a glimpse of a memory. I'm still toying with seeing this one in the theatre. It may be worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing it thursday at 10pm.
ReplyDeleteI'll let everyone know what I think on Friday.
I'm kind of bummed that they're making a new Godzilla. The original one is classic. I'm wondering if it should have been left alone. Can't wait to see what you say after seeing it.
ReplyDeleteSo far Edwards has said all the right things to make this a tribute to the classic.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I can't view any of those commercials. Stupid phone. I do want to buy anything with Godzilla in it. I hope he does some fine jewelry commercials soon. Love to see him decked out.
ReplyDeleteThat would be pretty sweet to see him with some BLING!
ReplyDeleteI love that first one. It gave me an unexpected laugh. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I have to say, seeing Godzilla water skiing is a bonus.
Godzilla is picky at what he eats!
ReplyDeleteI think it's crazy that the first really good look we've had of Godzilla came from a Fiat commercial
ReplyDeleteThere have been some stills, but this is the first time we see him in action.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they couldn't have fed him some Taco Bell and Dr. Pepper to go with that Fiat!
Oh David, this post is 'retro-ly' awesome. I totally forgot about Godzilla 1985.
ReplyDeleteGodzilla 1985 was my first Godzilla movie in the Theater!
