What is a writer? Am I actually a writer, or is that title only those who aspire to be published? I would guess that the interpretation is up to the individual. That being said, I still struggle with the definition. I write for me with my blog, poems, and short stories. I am blessed to have several friends that I follow that encourage me, but I still end up comparing myself to them.

In a way writing could be considered a selfish act. I certainly write for me, but then the stories take on a life of their own when other people read them. Best feeling ever.
ReplyDeleteIf you write, you're a writer. The published part is just part of the definition of an author. And yes, write what you want to read!
ReplyDeleteI have shared a little with my wife, but lack the confidence to share with others. I enjoy what little I do, so that is somthing.
ReplyDeleteIn other news... I can't believe it's September already.... Who let it in? Who? Who?
ReplyDeleteIt is funny that I found that on 9gag. I go there to laugh, and got some encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI found out on Monday. My prescription deductible for the year is due on Sep 1. We can always blame the Mars Land Rover I'm sure NASA won't mind. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! As for the coment I don't see it on my Admin page, so I guess it was eaten.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that it was quite delicious. ;-)
Yes, if you write what you want to read, your heart will be in it. Thanks for being my friend, David! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey, that's exactly the book I want to read! Love the leaping stick figure!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roland. Same to you my friend!
ReplyDeleteHA! If it was proportional to me it would be a lot heavier stick figure!
ReplyDeleteWrite what we want to read, and then accept ourselves for it! We writers are an insecure group. I would say critical, too. but we tend to be critical only of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteLove that I'm a storm trooper. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a writer, my friend. You don't have to write novels, or write with the goal of publication. You just have to write good content on whatever you desire to write about and that is what you do. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThere are many, many, many kinds of writers. The kind that wants to publish books is just the kind most people think about. It's the stereotype, if you will. But writing is a personal thing that's not just about books.
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't have to be published to be a writer - definitely not! You're writing? You love it? You spend time on it, dream about it, think about it all the time? You make time in your life to write? You're a writer :)
ReplyDeleteI put the Storm Trooper as the default avatar.
ReplyDeleteI could just call them clones, but i might have to pay Alex royalties.;-)
Thanks Chrys. I so many blogging friends that are published, or are looking to be, that I can feel small next to you lot!
ReplyDeleteHA! Great now I'm Stereotyping people. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI will say this I thank God that we have computers. My teachers in school hated my handwriting, and I struggled with the typewriter.
When Alex was starting the IWSG, I asked if I qualified. I asked the same question: What's a writer. I like his response: anyone who writes. He's so brilliant and supportive. You ARE a writer, David. We all are, whether we know or admit it or not.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
Thanks Robyn. Go get yourself some yummy chocolate!
ReplyDeleteNo, you're a stereotype BUSTER! :D
ReplyDeleteIt all qualifies David. Rock on
ReplyDeleteThank you Maurice, *Fist Bump*
ReplyDeleteI'm with Maurice - it all qualifies. Writing makes you a writer. You write, therefore, you are a writer. :) Write and rock on!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I shall rock on!
ReplyDeleteI'll do my best.
ReplyDeleteI'm not interested in being called a writer or not-really-a-writer. I do think you're a writer though. When you've got readers, you must be a writer...
ReplyDeleteThanks Blue that so kind of you.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's true.
ReplyDeleteAs long as no one goes PU.
