Effort...

I would be lying if I told you I am giving my best effort for this post.

I have been so preoccupied with work that I haven't been giving my best to my blog or my writing. I find things that click then fizzle by the time I put it down on the keyboard.

I just wish I could be like this Transformer, change and when I'm pulled in one direction my gears send me the other way.

As I talk about effort, I sit here devouring my late supper and rushing off to bed to get enough sleep, so I don't fall asleep at work tomorrow.

How is your effort?
Mine stinks lately, any words of advice?

  1. Life happens... the best thing you can do is be kind to yourself. And eat well. ;)

  2. There's a season for everything. Need to find what excited you about those things again.
And yeah, don't eat at McDonald's - that stuff will kill you.

  3. You must have talked with my wife. :-)

  4. Effort is for people with tiny dinner jackets. Because it's really hard to do anything in tiny dinner jackets.

  5. Thanks. The dollar menu is hard to beat when you are on the cheap.

  6. HA! James Bond could do a lot in a dinner jacket, but if his arms were constricted by the size the movies would have been shorter.

  8. We could use us a big kick in the bum! In order to get some momentum...

  9. It would have to be a rather large boot!

  10. I wish more people knew sometimes work has to take over blogging. But the quote from Roosevelt helps. I hope you stay awake Man, and I'm wishing you a bomb diggity Wednesday.

  11. BTW, that Transformer looks awesome.

  12. I remember having the tank that did the same thing, I just can't remember his name.

  13. I had that Transformer. Or my brother did. They were kind of community property back then. I remember it shot little sparks when you pulled it back and then let it run. Probably one of their lamer gimmicks for Transformers toys.

  14. I finally Googled the Tank I had was called GUZZLE.
Yes they were boring as robots, but the sparks were great for the commercials.

  15. It sounds like your effort is fine, you're just really busy. Sometimes all we can do is hang on and wait for the storm to pass. When it's over, then it's time to clean up the mess and move forward again. Good luck!

  16. There are times in life when other stuff takes over our writing or whatever creative endeavor we are hoping to achieve. I've found it's easiest to just go with the flow, and accept the times when it's not going the way we want. And a McDonald's double cheeseburger before bed certainly helps ;-)

  17. It was so much easier to shift gears and focus when I was a youngin' in my twenties. It seems to get harder over time. Dagnabbit! Sorry, this isn't helpful. I'm trying meditation and -frankly- counseling to 'clear out' some of the baggage. It's helping, but I'm still facing the same challenge of which you speak. When one has so many priorities, it's hard to focus solely on one at a time. I don't know what to tell you, David. Have you tried chocolate? I have. Since it hasn't helped yet, I figure I need to keep trying with it.

  18. Life loves to send me storms that pull me in different directions.
Sometimes I am anchored in what counts, and others I just go with the wind.

  19. I do errands after the kids go to bed. I feed them and sometimes I don't get to eat.
McDonalds is hard to resist by the time I drive back home.

  20. The age thing seems to slow me down more than I was anticipating.
Chocolate would help! Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Therapy is my go to chocolate of choice!

  21. Sounds like you and I are hanging out on the same boat, friend. Here's to not falling asleep at work, and hopefully getting in at least a couple good words once in a while...

  22. You have only so much emotional energy. Focus on what it most important and then work down. I have faith that you are a champion within no matter how down you may feel physically. A Texican always finds a way. :-) Pace yourself. Farmers let their fields lie fallow for a time -- and if even dirt needs a rest, how much more do we?

  23. Thanks. I did take a nap at lunch, I set my phone to wake me so I don't oversleep.

  24. The hard thing is I can hear my dad telling me that if you don't try to do it right there is no need in doing it at all. Like you said I can work my way down to the less important things.

  25. Sometimes when things get a little crazy in life you have to prioritize and let some things slide. When things slow down, you'll get back to the writing business.

  26. Thanks Sherry.
It better start quick, I am getting impatient. ;-)
