Chicken Soup for the Geeks Soul....sometimes its ramen noodles.

A short list of things I go to..

I like dry crunchy noodles

Sometimes our lives get busy and stressful, and we need things to just escape reality or just to make us feel better. I have had a few weeks like that lately. When I get this way I tend to go to movies, websites, TV shows etc. I could make this spiritual, but I will leave that for another day.
I like to fix Ramen noodle in the microwave. I will put just enough water to cover the noodles in a bowl, and set it for 1 min. Yes that is one minute, not minuet. I did play the Euphonium in high school, and played Bach's Minuet in G Major for my solo. Anyway, I like crunchy noodles. I know not everyone does, but I do. That being said not everyone will like what I like, but take it for what it is a fun relaxing list.

TRON
LEGACY

I know Tron Legacy is not one of the most liked movies.( 52% Rotten Tomatoes) I don't know if it is the cool blue visuals, or the soundtrack done by Daft Punk It has a relaxing feel for me. The story is not that bad, it needs more character development, but I can't get enough of watching it, or listening as it is sometimes. Plus who doesn't dig Jeff Bridges he's the Dude, dude!

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

My son has a Nintendo 3DS XL, it has the capability to download, from the Nintendo eshop, old NES games that I onced played. This was my favorite game back in the day. I don't allow my son to keep it in his room, so it charges in mine. It calls out to me on days that I need a quick fix on nostalgia. I get lost in the music, and sound effects...the levels. I thought I could beat it in a day....I had to down load a map of all the dungeons. It has three save slots for different gamers I am the Doctor my son is the Master, but he tends to play on mine, because I've gotten farther in the game and have "Cooler" stuff.

THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR

This is the last episode of  Doctor Who, before the 50th anniversary special. I have this DVR'd and protected so no one accidentally erases it. I'm not sure how many times I've watched it, but I know that  I have seen it more times than many of the Classic Who that I love so dear. That means alot coming from someone who has Tom Baker (4th Doctor) as his Avatar all over the internet. It is not so much the story, as it is the holding on till the next time you see Doctor Who on again. *SPOILERS* The ending is superb setting up  John Hurt as the Doctor # ?

You can't blog without your coffee

Since I have started this blog site, I have enjoyed sharing a little of myself with whoever it is that reads this drivel. I find it very therapeutic. At first I just followed a few blogs that I found and enjoyed. Now I write my own, and in the process have found several more virtual friends. I thought it would be a chore to write, but it has been great to see my family even enjoy me sharing my random thoughts. I plan on writing short stories ,I haven't written anything since college. I have forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Much like my crunchy Ramen Noodles!

Where do you go to? How do you like your Ramen?

  1. And very glad you started your blog! You just needed time to find your groove.
I liked Tron Legacy as well, even though it is flawed. (And go back and watch the original - dear Lord, was it bad!) I'm not a soundtrack guy, but my wife played that one enough that it became engrained in my head - and Recognizer became CassaStorm's theme song.

  2. Thanks as always, I can put Tron Legacy on, and start supper just to listening to it from the kitchen. While I make my Ramen!

  3. Ramen noodles have way too much sodium for my diet. I bet the Doctor's name will turn out to be Bob or something lame like that.

  4. I found that if you don't use the spice package, and season it to taste it is better. You think I would be tired of them after college, but i still love them.

  6. First, I'm glad I finally found your blog! It took some doing, but it's worth it. I'll be back often. TRON legacy was a mixed bag for me, but the visuals are second to none. It has a cool, crisp look that is articifical, but feels "zen." So I agree there. I watched The Name of the Doctor yesterday and still get goosebumps at the end. The conversation the two had is filled with such meaning.

Doctor: He's the one who broke the promise. Clara? Clara! He is my secret.
The Forgotten Doctor: What I did, I did without choice.
    The Doctor: I know.
The Forgotten Doctor: In the name of peace and sanity.
The Doctor: But not in the name of the Doctor.

    I can't wait for November.

  7. It is insanely salty, but throwing a few frozen mixed vegetables in there really makes it a meal. That's the bachelor in me talking. ;)

  11. I LOVE Bach! The baroque period has always been my favorite... too cool. (And that line totally made me laugh) And oh the days of Ramen noodles... I'm unfortunately gluten-free now... but man, do I miss those crunchy little evil things...

  12. Glad to make you smile. ;)
My musical taste is quite eclectic. Much like my Ramen crunchy to smooth.

  13. I enjoyed TRON: THE LEGACY myself. John Hurt as the new Doctor WHO? That sounds intriguing. Can you believe it? I have not seen a single episode of DOCTOR WHO. I am so culturally challenged, right?

  14. Thanks. It took me awhile to figure out the style. I like the dark with white writing, that way the word will light up the screen.

  15. Here is a towel for you to stay dry after all the rain you've had! I loved Tenant, but will miss Matt Smith. Hurt might only be in the 50th, Peter Capaldi is going to be the next Doctor after the christmas episode. No one knows exactly who Hurt is playing. A lost Doctor, Doctor #8 but old?

  16. NAW! I live in Texas, and wish I could go to Great Britain.
I've had people argue with me that I couldn't be a Whovian because I'm American. RUBBISH! You are who you are, it is what it is, and if that's not good enuf then nothing is!
Sorry to rant in the Reply like that. I hope I didn't scare you or anyone else off. ')

  17. I think if you give it a chance it's a good movie to relax to. Not that it doesn't have action, but visually it is stunning. Also Daft Punk did an outstanding job on the soundtrack.

  18. I love the look and feel of your blog, David. It's too awesome for words. Thanks for stopping by mine.

  19. I have a DVD holder with my go to movies in it. JJ Abram's Star Trek is often first choice, but also Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'm also a big Dr. Who fan, but I miss David Tennant. I think John Hurt will make a fantastic Dr., and maybe now all the young traveling companions won't fall in love with him and complicate things...
