New Year...New Insecurity-IWSG Post

It has been a while since my last post. So here is a little about me and my blog...along with a few INSECURE feelings...

For those new here my blog is about my geek obsessions. I realy have a thing for Doctor Who, as if you did't notice already. For my regulars I have a new laptop, and am slowly making my rounds, while trying to make new friends along the way.

For a while now I have been afraid I would never be able to catch up on my writing. My inability to write even a simple blog post do to my circumstances got me angry. This then led to me getting down on myself.

I know what you are going to say...

LET IT GO, AND BUILD A SNOWMAN!

Welcome back, not just to the IWSG, but online. Awesome about the new laptop and hope we see you more often now, David. We've missed your geek obsessions.

  5. I'm so glad you're back. Life has gotten in the way of my writing progress too but I write when I can and when I feel like it. No need to pressure myself or I'll just get frustrated with myself and then my writing will suck. I hope things are looking brighter for you and best of luck with the new computer!!

  7. Hurray for the new laptop and getting back into writing!

  8. I'm slowly making my way back to what I was doing previously, too.

  9. I've been there: when my home burned down, I was without my treasured laptop and cut off from the internet -- but at that time, I had no blog so that was a plus. Yet, I had friends who I couldn't connect to across the country.

Every wound takes time to heal. I know you will snap back. You were missed. And I am so glad you are back with a new laptop. Have a much better 2015!

  10. I had a really bad 2014. What upset me the most was not the problems I was dealing with themselves but the fact that I was falling so far behind on my blogging and my writing in general. My resolution for 2015 is to do a better job staying on top of my writing schedule no matter what life throws at me.

  11. From one geek to another, glad you're back, David. Glad you fought those negative thoughts and won. Happy IWSG and Happy New Year.

  17. I didn't know how much I would miss writing, till i lost the laptop.
I guess I could have done it the old way and actually write it on paper. ;-)

I have a hard time with just my one!

Who else will let me know what the ghost of Mark Twain is thinking? ;-)

  30. So, how's that snowman building coming along?
Hey, are you enjoying the new Doctor?

    ReplyDelete
  31. The Snowman will have to be virtual, today is the coldest day of winter and it is only 41 F.
I am loving 12. He had to grow on my kids because he is so grumpy, but that is what I like about him most.

  32. Very glad to see you back here. It wasn't the same without you.

  33. Oh nice, a new laptop. Nice you can rejoin the blogging/writing community again :)

I feel rather guilty when I don't blog or write, but I've misbehaved so often the "let it go" is a mantra.

  34. Always glad to meet a fellow whovian. I got so out of touch with IWSG that I had to take a break and come back later. My goal is to try to find more people to connect with through it this time. I've definitely been in the place of feeling down on myself over not blogging. Trying to be gentler on myself this year. Good luck to you and well met!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have found that I am harder on myself for not wringing.
Thanks for visiting the world needs more whovians!

  38. I always say at the root of writer's block is fear. Maybe once we recognize that, we can somehow fight past it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thats a good point, Stephanie.
Fear can impede the best of us.

    ReplyDelete
  40. But I have it on good authority that fear is a super power! (and also "Fear makes companions of us all," whatever that means.)

  41. When you struggle to make time to write, every word is an achievement. Celebrate and keep going!

Love the GIF, his smile was so iconic

  42. Thanks Nigel!
He was all teeth and curls!

  43. HA! Epic episode quote! You get extra credit for that one!

  44. We can get ourselves into a cycle with the not writing thing, can't we? Life is full of events and interruptions. The best thing I've found is to keep moving forward. Any progress, even if just thinking about writing and brainstorming, is better than nothing. It helps me, anyway. :) Wishing you all the best. Good to see you back!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm glad you got a laptop. It must have been so frustrating for you, not being able to write. Glad to see you here, again!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Karen.
I plan on concerning this thing called Life, or at least taming it so i can get my nap in.

  47. It was as equally frustrating not being able to visit all my internet friends.

Oh may and I do relate. Would you believe it took ages to have your site load up. I have to get a new computer and soon. I share your frustration, good sir. I feel terrible that it takes so long to get to sites and comment.

Let your writing flow with the inspiration that beats in your Dr. Who type heart :)
