HOW TO WRITE GOOD..A IWSG

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Found this on 9gag and had to share. Do you use any on this list?

  1. Think I've already blown the consistent one...

  2. The only thing I am consistent at, is consistently being hungry!

  3. Glad to be back. I love Arthur Darvill in the part. I hope they will drop a few references, and easter eggs for Doctor Who. (My back looks much better than my front) ;-)

  4. I think I do all of those sometimes.

  5. I'm sometimes tempted to use alliteration; even the odd cliche. Thank heavens for editors who steer authors toward perfection. Blessings.

  6. My dad had a cliche for every occasion.

  7. I am redundant sometimes, but it's sort of stylistic. I've only had one person complain about it and he was really looking for things to complain about.

The same goes for ending sentences with prepositions. I wouldn't end a sentence with a preposition in formal writing, but when I'm writing a blog or something, I believe it's fair game (see the second sentence of my first paragraph).

  8. This is one of my favorite lists! Never fails to give me a laugh!

  9. Always avoid repetition. And always avoid repetition. It's funny and it makes you think

  10. I'm probably most guilty of using cliches. Then again, I over exaggerated in my blog post today. Whoops.

  11. I prefer them more specific :)

  12. I love exaggeration, though. It makes me feel childish, which is quite fun!

(Annoying to others, that is, but fun for me!)

  13. Guilty on all accounts, I hang my head in shame

    Hey DAVID,

I know, where the heck have I been? Been somewhat out of action but I did manage to get here. All notable points of which I would never be sarcastic about, ever and then some! :)

    Take care, good sir.

  15. I've probably done all of these at some point in first drafts. Thank goodness for revisions.
