Ponies, Fonies, & Bronies

Where have all the cowboys gone? To watch My Little Pony Friendship is Magic!

Recently I did a post on Godzilla because my son told me to. As penance to my daughter I was informed to do this post. I let her chose the pic the title is mine. I think everyone is familiar with My Little Pony the toy line started in the 1980's. Plastic  horses  ponies with hair you could brush. Zoom to the present, yes I know my last post was on the side effects of time travel "come with me if you want to live"
I watch cartoons with my kids. With my son it is Beware the Batman, I would love to do a post on that one. With my daughter it is My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, from now on to be referred to as MLPFIM. I didn't think I would like it at first, but it soon grew on me and my son!

Here is a brief description of the 6 main characters

Twilight Sparkle

Twilight Sparkle dictates a letter to Spike the Dragon

She is the main character of the series. She likes to read, and study. As a unicorn she can perform magic using her horn. She used a lot of logical thinking in the different situations the ponies find themselves in. Her best friend Spike the dragon. He is also her assistant, helping her with her studies and picking out books that she asks for.

Applejack

Applejack is a normal pony she works and lives on a farm raising apples. You didn't see that coming did ya! She is by all accounts the country girl speaking with a suthrn acktsent. She has a  big brother that does not say much other than eeyup or nnope. She is not afraid of hard work and getting dirty.

Rarity

Rarity is a unicorn and can perform magic, but it is just to help hold things and find gems in the ground. She is a Fashion designer and a seamstress at her shop. She is the girly girl, and must look her best. She is prim and proper, but loves the spotlight. No dirty work for her. She also can manipulate males into doing jobs for her that might be too strenuous. Spike has a crush on her and will do anything she wants.

Fluttershy

Fluttershy is a pegasus. She lives in a small house by the woods. As her name implies she is shy and timid. She cares for and loves animals. She has a rabbit named Angel who is bossy and spoiled. She can be a doormat as the other ponies tend to cut in front of her in line and she will apologize saying that they can go first.

Rainbow Dash

,

Rainbow Dash is a pegasus. She is brash ,confident and competitive. When she flies she leaves a rainbow trail behind her. If she goes fast enough she can perform what is called a Sonic Rainboom. It is kinda like a sonic boom with rainbows. She lives in a cloud above Ponyville, and is in charge of the weather.

Pinkie Pie

Pinkie Pie is a normal pony. She is the most cartoonish character on the show. She is cheerful, hyperactive, and outgoing. She likes to throw parties, and sing. She will talk, talk, talk becoming almost annoying. She reminds me of the original Daffy Duck that bounced around all over the place.

WHAT IS A BRONIE?

After being forced watching the show for awhile, my son and I started to enjoy it almost as much as my daughter. I love to watch cartoons, so this is a way I can spend enjoying time with my kids. I had noticed a bunch of MEME's using MLPFIM some were in bad taste others rather funny. Then I came upon a term that I was unfamiliar with. BRONIE Basicly I bronie is a male who watches MLPFIS. There are other variations in defining it, but in this way I guess my son and I are bronies.

Doctor Whooves

He is my favorite pony! He really is on the show. http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Hooves

I definitely want this one!

  1. A Dr. Who ponyI

I don't have kids, so no need to watch cartoons. Think the last one I ever saw was Beavis and Butthead. (Yeah, don't think your kids need to watch that one.)
Fashion designer pony? What does Dr. Whooves do?

  2. I didn't let not having kids stop me from watching cartoons!
DR. Whooves is a background character it wasn't till Whovians spotted him out that the show started adding different versions of him on the show. The plush 4th Doctor pony is fan made. you can find several versions at http://www.deviantart.com/

  3. A Dr. Who Pony? Great. Like you, I want that one. No kids, but then since I am a big kid still, I watch cartoons. No Beavis and Butthead. More like Courage the Cowardly Dog -- he and I share the same amount of bravery!! :-)

  4. I like courage he has the best PC EVER! Better than Iron Man's J.A.R.V.I.S. I just wouldn't want to have Eustace as my owner that guy stinks!

  5. Dr. Hooves! That might make me watch the show. I might just become a Bronie for that.

  6. HA! just don't tell Nigel . YouTube has several fan made tributes.
Just search for "dr whooves" some are funny, and some actually use audio from the show with animated ponies. This one is from "The Doctors Wife" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NUpkyBE6pE

  7. I saw enough My Little Pony in the 80s when my sisters would watch it. They had Applejack back then which always made me hungry for Apple Jacks cereal and thirsty for apple juice.

  8. LOL! Yeah the cereal wasn't my favorite, but I like apple juice.
I never saw the old ones but it is funny that they kept some of the same names and designs.

  9. Oh good grief, My Little Pony and um, such memories. Then again, I never recovered from those days when Gumby and Pokey were my obsession. Now to go watch my favourite film, "Bambi Meets Godzilla!" A very short film, but great, nonetheless....
